Argument

Argument

When you have an argument you usually are on one side and based on the knowledge you have about the topic you stay on that side. The person with the stronger facts and more information about the topic wins the argument. There are different ways to get audience’s attention when writing essay on arguments. My all time favorite is defiantly a persuasive essay because of many reasons. The first reason is that in the persuasive essay there is always a hook that is supposed grasps the reader’s attention. And if you have a strong hook the rest of the essay should be simple.

Sometimes it can be hard to write a persuasive essay but one major factor I use is understanding who my target audience is. If you know who the target audience is then focus your writing on them and try to say or write in their discourse. The more of a connection you make with your audience the more they will be interested in your essay. Another factor is make sure you state a counter argument and elaborate on it. The counter argument gives the reader a different take on the situation but this is when you use it to your benefit. This is when you sort of put the other side to your argument on blast.

One thing I have noticed is that when writing these types of essays, you cannot be on both sides. Most people question why this is, but if you were on both sides then there really is not anything to argue over. Act as if your defending someone you love from going to prison or something like that. And make sure you stick to one side because it can confuse people if you’re for both sides. This is pretty much my understanding of a persuasive essay, hopefully it can be of some use to you all for paper 3.

  1. I agree with the fact that we can't be on both sides of the argument, you have to choose a point and stick with it otherwise your argument will sound pointless and weak. You can't disregard the other argument either though, you have to understand it and prepare counterarguments. Thanks a lot for your perspective!

  2. True. You can't make an argument by being on both sides, it isn't possible. Sometimes it can be really hard to choose an argument, when both are really good. What you do is just pretend to be in that situation and see how it would feel if it was you. This sometimes helps a person pick a side.

  3. one must learn how to stand by one side. Although at times one does feel in the middle and cant choose from both sides. If one chooses a side it makes it easier for one to understand what side you stand on and why as well. One must learn to argue and have counterarguments right away to get their point across. Good job like the pictures in this post. lol

  4. I agree that one must take a side on a argument in order to counter the other side, but one must also know how to argue for their side in order to really persuade people to be on your side as well.
