The Environmental Destruction of Global Warming
Many people believe
that the impact of global warming is too uncertain to be a threat to our lives
and future. So many stories have been told about how long it will take until we
will not be able to handle it or if it really will have an effect on us. What
we don’t realize is that we are currently facing global warming as of today.
Global warming has taken its toll on a large part of our world as greenhouse
gases are polluted into the air and our temperatures rapidly increased. We are
going through a great amount of drastic change due to global warming and it
will eventually get even worse if it is not taken care of.
People believe global
warming will be a very small threat to the world. This idea is false as
researchers and scientists are certainly not embellishing or overreacting on
the situation. People need to know that global
warming has already made its way through our earth’s structure by the
destruction of our colder parts of the world due to climate change. Even citizens in Miami are now experiencing global warming, along with people who are living in deserts in Africa, in far North
where tundra’s are melting, and high mountain areas in Andes and Himalayas
where their glaciers are disappearing. And this is just the beginning of what global warming has took part into our lives we live in.
Global warming has already taken its toll on us as we are living our lives. In 2005, it was the warmest decade we’ve ever had. Scientists even
say that the earth could warm by an additional 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit during
the 21st century if we fail to reduce emissions from burning fossil fuels, coal
and oil, and more greenhouse gases. This rise
in average temperature will have extended effects on the earth's climate
patterns and on all living things. The living things we have are beginning to get destroyed as well as more harmful effects to our future and this is all due to the actions that have been made from us.
The actions
we make now with burning fossil fuels, coal, and oil are ridiculous in terms of
how much of a problem it will make for us today and for the future. There is much documentation on
increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and what we do is what
makes this problem. Global
changes in atmospheric composition occur from anthropogenic emissions of
greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide that results from the burning of
fossil fuels and methane and nitrous oxide from multiple human activities. The result of the continued actions we make, it has been straightforward
that climate change is now upon us and is already bringing alarming change to
our planet by increasing temperature all over the world, especially in colder
areas. For this reason, species have been forced to change habitats because of
the range of temperatures those species can’t handle. In the Northern Hemisphere, the range of terrestrial plants and animals has shifted, on average, 6.1 km per decade northward or 6.1 m per decade upwards, with advance of seasonal phenomena by 2.3–5.1 days per decade over the past 50years. It’s crazy to see how much global warming has
affected us and how much it will affect us in the future. Yet a big chunk of
the population does not see what will affect them if nothing is done. That is
where environmentalists’, like myself, need to firmly step in and take action.
Global warming is
happening in the present day and we need to make a change by going greener and
caring more for the environment by recycling to prevent landfills from taking
over our land and burning less fossil fuels to prevent pollution. In my
perspective, it’s not about why it’s happening, it’s about how it’s happening
and how we can prevent it in the future. What many people may not realize is that one person can make a difference. When you start
practicing effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, others will follow.
Today millions of households and businesses
recycle items such as newspapers, cans, and plastics. That’s bringing us one
step closer to stopping this destruction and saving the lives of our future
generations. So to save our planet from this horrible global destruction, it all
starts with us to make a change.
